One factor to take into consideration when purchasing a mobility scooter is the turning radius. Here is our recommended list of mobility scooters with the best turning radius.

The turning radius is the amount of space needed for the mobility scooter to perform a 180 degree “U turn”. The smaller the radius the better it will perform in tight spots.

To determine if a scooter can make a turn in a particular space, you must measure the length and width of each area in which you wish to make that U-turn. The length and width measured should be at least 2 times as wide as the turning radius for that scooter.

To make turning safe and easy within your home, it is recommended that you add a few extra inches to the measurement. The mobility scooters that are included in the list below all have a turning radius below 36 inches. As you make your way down the list you will notice that all of them are 3-wheel scooters except for the last one.

The way a 3-wheel scooter is designed allows it to be more nimble and agile. This is because you would have more control over the front wheel and can dictate how far you can turn.

At 36 inches the Pride Go-Go Sport 3-wheeler has one of the tightest turning radiuses on a mobility scooter. It has an overall width of 21.25 inches and a length of 42 inches. With this much length it is impressive that it has such a short turning radius.

The Go-Go Sport has a maximum speed of 4.7 mph. a ground clearance of 1.5 inches at the motor, a driving range of 14.5 miles, and a weight capacity of 325 pounds. The front and rear tires are 3”x8” and 3”x9”, respectively.

It has a compact foldable seat with a seat to ground height range of 20.5 to 22 inches. It runs off two 12v 18Ah batteries that are charged offboard. Its colors can be interchanged through red and blue shroud panels.

2. Pride Go-Go Elite Traveler Plus 3 Wheel Travel Scooter SC53

The Elite Traveler Plus has a turning radius of 34.5 inches, which is a bit tighter than that of the Go-Go Sport, a width of 21.25 inches and a length of 40 inches.

It has a maximum speed slightly below the Go-Go Sport at 4.5 mph, a ground clearance of 1.7 inches, a driving range of 14.5 miles and a weight capacity of 300 pounds. The tires are solid 2x8 inches at the front and 3x9 inches at the rear.

It also has a compact foldable 17x17 seat, with a seat to ground height range of 20.5 to 22 inches. The Elite Traveller also runs on two 12v 18Ah batteries that are charged off board. It also comes with interchangeable shroud panels in red and blue.

3. Pride Go-Go Ultra X 3-Wheel Scooter SC40X

The Go-Go Ultra X 3-wheel has a turning radius of 33 inches, a width of 19.5 inches and a length of 37 inches.

It has a basic speed of 4 mph, a ground clearance of 1.3 inches, a driving range of 6.9 miles per charge, a weight capacity of 260 pounds. Its front tires are 2x8 inches solid while the rear tires are 2.5x8 inches solid.

The seat on this unit is 17x17 inches, just like the previous scooters, but the seat to ground height range on the Ultra X is 18.25 to 20.25 inches. It runs on two 12v 12Ah batteries. This model only comes in the color red.

4. Go-Go LX With CTS Suspension 3-Wheel Scooter SC50LX

The Go-Go LX with CTS suspension has a turning radius of 33 inches, with a width to length dimension of 20.5 by 39.75 inches.

It has a maximum speed of 4.4 mph, a ground clearance of 0.75 inches at the anti-tip, a maximum driving range of 8 miles, and a weight capacity of 300 pounds.

It comes with solid front and rear tires that are 2x8 inches and 2.5x8 inches, respectively. Both the front and rear wheels have comfort-trac suspension.

The seat on the Go-Go LX is foldable and compact and has vinyl covered molded plastic. The seat to ground height range is 20.75 to 22.25 inches. It also runs on two 12V 12Ah batteries that can be charged off board.

The standard body color is red and blue interchangeable shroud panels.

5. Pride Go-Go Folding Scooter S19WH1001

Out of all the mobility scooters we have included, the Go-Go Folding has the tightest turning radius at 32 inches. It has a width of 19 inches and a length of 37 inches.

It has a maximum speed of 4 mph, a ground clearance of 2.3 inches, a driving range of up to 13 miles on a lithium-ion battery and 9.3 miles on a sealed lead acid battery, a weight capacity of 250 pounds. Its front tires are 1.5 inches solid while the rear tires are 2x8 inches solid.

The seat on this unit is compact, foldable, gray, vinyl covered molded plastic. It runs on either two 12v 12Ah sealed lead acid batteries or one 12V 12Ah lithium-ion battery, both chargeable off-board.

This model only comes in the color white.
